On March 24th, 2012, Eliza participated in a Solo/Ensemble Music Competition for band & choir students from all over the area. She's participated in this competition every year, but for some reason, Tim and I have never attended one! It really hit us that this would be her last one, so we both went to it with her. It was a beautiful day and wonderful to spend the day together, just the three of us. (Amanda did not participate this year and she was so glad she didn't because that weekend, her best friend, Rosalia, who moved to Utah and then to Michigan, and who Amanda misses terribly, came for a visit with her family, and Amanda spent the entire weekend with her.)
Eliza did a wonderful job. She participated in 3 ensembles - a flute choir, a woodwind ensemble and a duet. We could not get the video for the woodwind ensemble to work for some reason, but it's OK, because to be honest, it was awful!! There were just a couple participants who were out of tune and having some trouble (not Eliza of course!). But the flute choir and the duet were great! If you don't have time to listen to both of these, just at least listen to the duet. You will be able to hear Eliza really well. She has the higher flute part and she sounds amazing!!
